Audi ASQ is a futuristic concept car with advanced features that was designed by Juyoung Kim, a Transport Design graduate student of the Hongik University. It is yet another design that was developed in 2009 and added to those beautiful concepts waiting to attract the German car maker’s attention. The
ASQ concept was proposed to
Audi for the year 2040, with an imagination of a world witnessing the worst case scenario of global warming in recorded history, where sea levels have dramatically risen due to melting polar ice caps.

The concept vehicle is created to move on land and in river, depending on the circumstances it faces. This capability enables it to easily travel in water areas while subjected to environments where melted icebergs reach knee level. The
Audi ASQ concept car has a streamlined and sleek design, which gives climate change a faint lining of silver. This ultra-advanced car, produced theoretically in 2040, will surely help to keep the occupants dry as the world steps into a presumed depressing future of global warming.

It is well equipped to optimally perform in rising water levels, since its amphibian nature makes it possible for the car to move both in water and on land. This amphibian Audi concept car has a built-in function to submerse it in deep water.

While moving on land, the ASQ makes use of a highly-advanced form of a 4-wheel drive system, as we see in Audi Quattro model, which incorporates four (4) independent electric motors, one (1) for every wheel.
The shape of the two (2) front wheels is spherical, a design that enhances its ability to maneuver effortlessly. A hydrogen-filled engine which serves as an electrical generator is used for powering this Audi’s futuristic car. It uses the generated electricity to provide power for its batteries, which subsequently supply power to the four (4) electric motors.

Audi ASQ concept vehicle changes over to an aquatic version of its Quattro drive system that makes use of water jet propulsion like a jetski. Its positioning of water jets at the front, sides and rear entail that the vehicle can propel in any direction of choice, while immersed in water.

The intention of Juyoung Kim for a 3-seater was to create a car that has an increased overall space for its occupants. He further stressed spaciousness by making use of a fully transparent upper part of the cabin that includes a single piece of windscreen, rear window, frameless side window and roof. Its incorporation of transparent panels at the floor enables its occupants to see through the water below.
The ASQ concept vehicle has sure tickled the fancy of people who are worried about the effects of CO2 emissions on our planet in coming years and how we can move about. Well, we still have twenty nine (29) years to go before the proposed year. Maybe, just maybe, Audi might consider using this concept while producing futuristic cars that have the capability to withstand high rising water levels.
